Today we are tasting another Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) from Baden, this time from the Wine cellar Badischer Weinverbund. This bottle was cheap (2.31€) so we hadn't high expectations. But, in the end, this was a simple Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) to drink daily. Nothing too complex, but also not a bad Wine.

Nose before swirling

Before swirling, a characteristic strawberry and blueberry aroma can be felt, with some blackberry jam on the background - possibly hinting on the vinification process used for this Wine.

Nose after swirling

After swirling the glass, the strawberry aroma gains prevalence and the blackberry jam takes a second place. Some green paprika can also be felt. This Wine is faintly hot to the nose due to its alcohol content.

Taste in the mouth

On the mouth, green paprika and blackberry jam are the main defining tastes, with some red fruits notes. This Wine has an elegant low acidity emphasising its fruity taste. Its finish is short but pleasant.

After smell in the glass

The glass is really clean, with faint red fruits notes.

Conclusions:

This is a great varietal example of a Spätburgunder/Pinot Noir. Its consistent strawberries and blueberries flavours and aromas make this Wine a textbook example of a Spätburgunder/Pinot Noir.

For its low price (2.31€ on Aldi Süd), this wine is a good inexpensive Wine for everyday consumption. You receive what you pay for. In our palates, this Wine is a 2.5/5, it’s better than acceptable, but not enough to earn a 3/5.
