Bourgogne - Coteaux Bourguignons 2018 - Collin Bourisset

Coteaux Bourguignons

  • 2018 - Bourgogne A.O.C.

  • Collin Bourisset

  • Rating: 3/5

We tried this Gamay last week. This Wine got our attention because it is made from the main varietal that makes a Beaujolais Wine, but comes from the neighbouring region, which may have a similar terroir (soil, weather, and other natural conditions).

Overall, this was a fine Gamay, not too young nor too mature, with a price tag of 6.81€. The quality of this Wine is good for its price.

Nose before swirling

On the nose, we can feel a distinct cherry aroma with spices, and a faint dash of chocolate.

Nose after swirling

After swirling the glass for a while, the cherry smell intensifies and a defined cranberry aroma appears on the nose. Furthermore, the chocolate aroma gives way to some elegant vanilla dashes.

Taste in the mouth

In the mouth, this Wine is light-bodied. The red fruits taste gets even more dominant while ripe tannins take a more prominent role. The acidity of this Wine is mild, balancing itself with the low sugar content. The finish is quite fruity and of middle length.

After smell in the glass

The glass smells clean afterwards with just some red fruits and a slight vanilla aroma.

Conclusions:

This is a good Wine to have while watching a movie or talking to friends. Uncomplicated, straightforward, and enjoyable, with some tannins that may spice up the conversation. I, personally, would buy it again.

However, though this Wine is clean, it doesn’t do anything to be great. Due to this, we rank it 3/5. It’s good, but not very good.

(1 = poor; 2 = acceptable; 3 = good; 4 = very good; 5 = outstanding)
